One of the advantages of using potassium ions in energy storage devices is the excellent transport properties compared to other alkali ions. However, the large radius of potassium ions causes structural distortion and instabilities in electrodes. In this work, it is found that water induces structural rearrangements of the vanadium-oxygen octahedra and enhances stability of the highly disordered potassium-intercalated vanadium oxide nanosheets. The characterisation of the samples included SEM imaging and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). These two techniques were implemented with the TESCAN FIB-SEM LYRA3 GMU equipped with an EDS detector.
