Recently published in Wiley’s Meteoritics & Planetary Science Journal, this paper discusses the June 2, 2018 impact of asteroid 2018 LA over Botswana. It was the first time that a meteorite was spotted in space before reaching the atmosphere and landing on Earth, and for the first time it was possible to track the meteorite to the source asteroid Vesta.
