TESCAN Group’ initiative supports scientists working to solve global sustainability challenges with micro-CT instruments that enables them to discover the secrets of matter at the micro and nanoscale
Brno, Czech Republic―August 15 2023―TESCAN Group, a leading provider of innovative and disruptive microscopy technology for science and industry, today announced a Call for Proposals to win a week of dynamic CT beamtime as part of its corporate sustainability initiative. Researchers worldwide from both industry and academia are invited to submit their proposal and explain why they need access to dynamic 3D X-ray imaging.
The 2023 competition will focus all aspects of sustainability, including:
- Battery research
- Green energy
- CO2
- Hydrogen storage
- Recycling
- Novel materials that reduce environmental impact
- Or any other sustainability-focused project!
Winners receive:
- One week of exclusive beamtime experience at TESCAN’s Ghent, Belgium campus
- Support of the TESCAN technical team that pioneered dynamic micro-CT technology
- Accommodations for up to two researchers for an entire week
- Daily lunch at the TESCAN XRE facilities
- Outings in the historic city of Ghent
Travel to and from Ghent is not included
TESCAN held the competion three years ago, and according to Sebastian Gruber (TU Munich, Germany), winner of the 2021 competition, “Using the unique capabilities of the TESCAN DynaTOM, we were able to visualize the 3D structural changes occurring in lyophilization processes in real time, using an in-situ freeze-drying setup. The experiments gave us unique insights in these processes, in a way no other analytical method could. The results acquired in just one week of beamtime meant a huge boost for our research and provided unique data for publications and participation at scientific events.”
Dr. Wesley De Boever, product marketing manager at TESCAN states, “Dynamic micro-CT is an extremely useful and powerful technique that offers the ability to image material behavior in real time at the micrometer scale. It will be very insightful for any researcher that gains access to this tool for their sustainability efforts. I look forward to seeing all of the excellent proposals and am excited to help support young researchers in their mission to solve real world issues.”
Proposals must be submitted by Wednesday, November 1st, 2023. Winners will be announced in December 2023. Please click here for submission guidelines and to enter your proposal.
